News from chez Rose..

Our house closes on the 15th all being well and the underwriters decide we have jumped through enough hoops.. the house will be ours.

there is no flooring in the family room shown here, we get to put flagstone down or something similary the rest of the house is all wood floors, even in the four bedrooms.

I love it!!!

I have decided also to get my Asscociates degree, it will be in Health Care Admin and medical billing. This will then enable me to get a good job as apposed to just a mediocre job.

Now onto something that is really, really bothering me...

I found out a couple of weeks ago Becca's problems are not JUST because she is a stroppy Teen.
She has been diagnosed with ADHD Panic/anxiety attacks. Today she goes to her GP to start on some meds. This is something she has had for years and no one has helped her until she came to live with Revis and I.

It has been a rough few months culminating with her staying with her Boyfriends Parents because Revis and her were not getting along but shes back home now and we have found splitting her time between here and there is helping.

we were watching a movie last night, and she fell asleep cuddled up to me, it felt wonderful.

Here we come!  We will move down for good in August of next year and so until then, we will be making periodic visits to prepair for the move and put odds and sods in the house.

I know USA-Admiral comes from down there, we will be living in Perry.
Perry I have found out is a rather depressed town in that it does not have a lot of big industry. It is still a small town with that small town feel and I hear there can be a rather aweful smell from a paper mill at times, I hope thats not too bad. I dont know if its still in operation even. We didnt want big city life, we wanted it fairly quiet, so its smallness didnt matter.

So, what do I need to watch out for other than Crocodiles by the waterways and bugs of all descriptions in all other places. I dont like creepy crawlies so im a little nervous!

This is just common sense!  Please either place it in your congress persons hands, email or snail mail and tell them that they if they do not do this they are OUT 2010.


1.  I believe in a balanced budget and therefore will vote for a freeze on government spending until that goal is realised.

2.  I believe that government should not increase the burden on its citezenry during difficult times,  therefore I will appose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded.

3. I believe that more than four decdes of dependentcy on foreign oil is a travesty, therefore I will support an energy plan that calls for immediately increasing usage of all domenstic resources including nuclear energy, natural gas, and coal as necessary.

4. I believe in the soveriegnty and security of our country and therefore will support measures to close our borders, accept for designated immigration points so we will know who is entering and why and I will vehemently appose any measure giving another country, The United Nations, or any other entity power over us citezens.

5.  I believe the United States Of America is the greatest country on earth and therefore will not appologise for policies or actions which have served to free more and feed more people around the world than any other nations on the planet.

News from the home front:
Daughter number one is settled into her new job, loving it. First paycheck over 200.00 for one week.

Retirement next year!
And we have found a nice parcel of land with water access on Lake Martin, Dadesville Alabama.
Not my idea of a metropolis, but its rural, nice neighborhood, and very cheap! $69 thousand for the land which is an acre and a half, a HUGE garage for him to put his tools and toys in, and a three bed two bath modular, which is a temp home because we are going to build.
He is in the process of being approved for the mortgage. We already have eight acres up in the hills by Camp Hill, which we are going to turn into hunting lodge and rent out.  It is overrun with wild turkey, deer and has a running stream through it.  He had the idea of building a sort of viking lodge type shelter where the kill could be cleaned, packaged and taken home. with a big open pit type cooking area for pig roasts, family get togethers on the off season and for the celebration of ths solstice'.

Health is good, hope you are all ok.
well done on all the people standing up and being heard! WAY TO GO!!

Dr. Regina Benjamin, who is Obama's choice for Surgeon General is rather on the shall we say, Portly side, and looks like she has never turned down a meal in her life.

My eldest is home, she has a bit of a cold but is otherwise glad to be back. Her time with her Dad was ok but he hasnt changed. She has also announced her plans to join the US Air Force and will start the ROTC her senior year. All she knows is, she wants to be in the Medical area and she wants to be an officer. The worlds her oyster really, we (Mr Bird and I)are very proud of her decision.

She also got her driving licence, after he dad said she would fail, whats the point? nice huh.. I could smash him in the gob for that.

One of my aquantances emailed me to inform me the video entitled The Peoples Stimulus Package could be construde under the Patriot Act as Terrorism!

Since when was it terrorism to demand of ones Congress and elected officials state-wide for that matter, that they work for the people and listen to them when they say, "we do not want this!"

wiki says, Patriotism means the love and devotion of and too ones country. It does not mean that a patriot has to agree with everything its country does, but should strive to make it a better place and promote anaylitical questioning.. humm.. really?

I seem to hear a lot of shouting down going on by the Dems/libs, and no media coverage of apposing opinions.

Then I looked at the definition of terrorism.. The systimatic use of terror as a means of coercion and acts designed to create fear.

Now I dont know about you, but theres a distinct difference there.

It does say that it has been critisized for weakening civil liberties.

If our country is destined under Obamas idea of change to become another Soviet Union we very well may see an end to demonstrations of any kind even if they are peaceful.

whats so hard about re-vamping healthcare in a fair manner?

I am sure, apart from Mr Brightsmile fascist agenda and admiitted desire to change the USA, there are lobbyists putting their own agendas forward on how this health care reform issue. Whatever Obama wants to call it, its still the same agenda.

We have healthcare.. you can go into any emergency room and get care, what we do not have is insurance for all that is affordable. We have millions of un insured not just because companies do not often offer it, but because they just dont want to be insured. We also have people who are eligable for medicare and medicaide who cant be bothered to apply and we have people who just come into emergency rooms for care because they dont know where else to go, or they are from another country and here illegally.

Medicare and Medicaide need to be fixed. If they got everyone covered one way or another, either with mandatory medicare or medicaide if they qualify, or incentives for business to offer insurance, AND quit giving care to people who are not entitled...ok, humanitarians, I know.. well what about this.. would you agree to a small tax to be put into a trust fund to cover the cost? What about donations from the drug and insurance companies? My point is, if we got all these things taken care of, might it get the rest of it fixed by freeing up money to do it?
Just a thought..
Flawed? yep I suppose so.. but whats the alternative right now?

Government Run Healthcare?-How Will Life Change?

WE have to fight this! Somewhere along the line someone is going to benefit from government run healthcare being shoved forward and down our throats! I bet it is some entity that has contributed heavily to the Obama campaign coffers but I havent found out what or who, yet.
Why else would he have a hair up his ass about pushing it through so fast?

Anyway, despite the hurry of our asshole in chief and his threats if it isnt pushed through lets discuss how other things we hold dear will change. Like FOOD.

I love food. I cant eat gargantuan portions but I would like to have the right to eat how much of whatever I want to eat. Gone will be restuarants that cater to the huge appetite of all the lovely food like Ribs, steaks, etc.
Have you guys seen the show Man VS Food? google it and check it out. He show cases some great eaterys. I think we will not be allowed to eat anything that is deemed bad for our health and that will therefore put a big strain on the governement run healthcare system. If we do, we will be denied service... dont believe me? Just wait and see.

That yellow thing in the sky has been out, at least that lifts our spirits for a while, eh? Although its way hotter than it needs to be down in the south west.

There was a hornets nest under the deck, we only found out because Rev got stung the other day, so he went in with this foamy spray and killed it. At least we think they are all dead.

Becca comes back from IL wed, she starts her part time job this week! Good... now she will stop asking me to buy stuff we dont need. I honestly dont think that this recession has hit home with the shopaholic teens like my youngster.

IN PRAISE OF A GOOD CURRY!...

we had one the other night. Its been so long since I had a good curry, in fact, I was living in England. I forgot that Madras is hot enough to keep a Louisiana hubby happy, my mouth was on fire but not enough I couldnt taste the other delicious flavors.

Food in general is the center of our attention tonight as Saturday night we always buy a bottle of wine and a nice steak. Its cheaper than going out and we can collapse on the sofa and watch a movie afterwards and get toasted if we want to!
Do something nice for yourselves, take some time to sit down with the family and have a good time.

If she quit for the sake of the family being dragged into the mud, and all the crap she has been getting, I can understand that. If shes doing the book/talk circuit to pay her horrendous legal bills, I can see that as well....I question wether abandoning her post and the Alaskans was a smart idea. Running for President is just going to have her critics back at her and her families throats again.

Why Government Health Care Does Not Work!

On a personal note, when my Mother was 53 years old I got THE call in the middle of the night from my Father to say that he didnt think my Mother was going to make it. She was in the hospital having suffered a heart attack. I got on the next plane home to England and my Father drove me straight to the hospital to see her. I was a basket case but pulled myself sufficiently together to go in there. Dad said they had made her stable as they could.

We walked into the ward where she was to find her packing her little bag. She had been told that the bed was needed for someone else who was more serious and that she should go home and rest. May I remind you that she had just had a heart attack... Despite the stress tests, EKG's and so forth all pointing to her needed bypass, they sent her home.

I was so jet lagged anyway and wide awake with worry, I shoved her and dads single beds together, dad slept on the sofa fully clothed in case we had to call an ambulance again, and just held her hand because she told me she was too afraid to go to sleep in case she never woke up. During that time I appologised for everything even if it wasnt my fault and we bonded after being apart for such a long time.

After a few weeks it became apparent she needed the bypass her heart was blocked and she was getting angina pains, so we had her Doctor pull a few strings to get her back in. The operation was a success, she is still alive an in her late sixties now.

More and more you hear other stories of people with cancer dying when they could have been saved with private medicine. Do you want to have to beg your Doctor to pull a few strings for you?

Everything the Government gets involved in gets screwed up! Yes the Government likes to spend money but I bet it will be as tight as assholes with spending money on this. Some little pencil necked beaurocrat who isnt even and MD makign decisions on perhaps you or your loved ones life and death situation. I dont know about you, but I dont want that.

Some bright spark said, "What about all the people that have lost their jobs and there insurance?" Cobra? How about going down to the public aid office to see if you qualify for a card?

This problem does need to be addressed but not by dismanting the private insurance all together.

Yes, text books are out, they are studying an "Ology" and not biology as I told her I will be knocking on the door and opening it periodically and sticking my smiling face around it.

Romanov's Found!

Everyone knows the story of the Romaonov's Russia's last Royal family, who were imprisioned, and murdered by the Bolsheviks on the orders of Lennin. A mass grave was found and with the technologies in DNA and forensic science, the remains were positively indentified as that of the Romanov's.

There has been some speculation over the years as to wether one of the children Anastasia, escaped. A woman claming to be the lost Grand Dutchess spent years trying to prove she was Anastasia. Anna Anderson died a few years back.

Apon further escavation, two other skeletons were found, and were postively identified using DNA as that of Anastasia and her Brother Crown Prince Alexei.

Romanov Remains Found

SARL - Salem Animal Rescue League.

While I am un-employed, I have volunteered at the local animal shelter. I usually walk the dogs but I can also be found in Kitty City, helping to take care of our large cat population. I would take them all home if we had the space and the money. This is good therapy for me. If you can find time, please ask at the local shelter if they need volunteers, also they are always in need of donations of course. It could be some money or dog food, cat food, collars, old quilts and pillows for bedding. Anything you can spare.

What is wrong with people these days?

More to the point, what is wrong with teenage boys?

My Daughter is gorgeous, and I am not just saying that because I am her Mother. Shes bright, great personality and I would think could have her pick of guys. Every single boy she has taken a shine too, has dumped her as soon as it was apparent she was not going to.. how can I delicately put this..PUT OUT. Is there any such thing as just being friends with guys without all the pressure to go to bed with them? I just want to bounce these guys heads off the hood of my car personally, but then I would figure as a parent, this reaction is not un-common.

So, I did a bit of research with regards to what is called, Hanging out. Used to be called, asking a girl out on a date beccause you liked her. I came up with these pearls of wisdom.

"These days when people say "I'm dating so-and-so," this is usually a euphemism for "I'm f*** so-and-so."

OK, I can go for that. Dating usually can get serious and end up with the horizontal mamba.

"What does the term 'hanging out' mean to you? It use to mean we go the movies or bar together, talk about our woes when it comes to dating and strictly platonic."

Yeah, thats what I thought it meant! So did my Daughter.- Bird.

"This is what I've observed lately ....When a guy says 'hanging out' he simply wants to bang you but doesnt want to date you nor does he want to be seen as a liar so he says we're just hanging out. Then he decides he's 'confused' and not sure if he wants a girlfriend or just be alone. But not so alone he can't get laid. If you're not in the market for a girlfriend, why pursue a girl as if you're really interested? Isn't that lying?

Sorry, anyone I perceive as wanting to "bang" my Daughter if she agrees to "Hang out" is getting very short on life force. - Bird.

Which brings me to HOOKING UP.

I know what that means.

If she wants to hang out, this is good, hooking up.. not so good but I know she will be safe if she cannot be abstinate.

What happened to just plain old asking a girl out on a date then maybe if its still going on, you are going steady, then you go to bed with that person because you are attracted to them. What happened to GOING STEADY?

Then I find this from a young guys POV:

But its not your fault if homeboy is thick headed.) Maybe he doesnt make any advances, well...then its obvious he wants you as a friend. If your interest is to be his potential girlfriend, except his advances and show interest yourself. Then see where he takes it. And becareful of screwing him too early. make the boy invest more time. If he does, its clear that he like you more than just a fuck. I dont think any boy will invest all that time in you just because of a fuck. its mostly likely because he likes you.Sleep with him the first day if you want too. Sex is a beautiful and normal thing. It's not 'BAD.' But yes, there are liars and manipulators that miscommunicate to you just so he can get a fuck. Just weed them out by seeing how much they are willing to invest. (And I mean TIME, not MONEY for godsakes!!!!)If you want to simply ravish his body for one glorious night: well...that a no brainer. Go wild."

Thank God she is on the pill.. yes I want her to abstain, but lets be honest. She is 17 and the hormones are raging so I decided I wanted her to be safe if she is going to have consensual sex. I also figured if "Hanging out" gets out of hand, and leads to letting it all hang out, I want her to be safe, then I will go and try to cut the guys nuts off-Bird.

When did it ever get so bloody complicated??

Goofing Off.

Not Buckling Down.

Riots in Europe, nothing in the USA, at least, no pictures posted, anywhere. Contrived? or am I just looking in the wrong place. I searched the whole web. Funny how you can find pictures of David Carradine trussed up like Sundays Roast, but no pictures of unrest in the USA.

Saucey as ever and madder than a wet hen, then so many people ARE really mad at the moment about a whole lot of different things! Same in the UK. The serfs have had enough in my old home land and they have begun to take action:

While these people are thinking in their tanks it might be a good idea to do some real brain- storming on how individuals are going to protect themselves in the even of catastrophic failures or mass violent demonstrations, or even someone coming to steal your food and water. I try not to be an alarmist but I am seeing more apathy in the US than ever at the moment and the only voices I am hearing is from the presidentially run media's other than FOX News network. Nothing is reaching me concerning a growing amount of people in the USA getting pissed and making their voices heard, am I wrong? Please post if I am, and let everyone know what is going on in your neighborhoods and cities.

Am I missing the unrest? Or has the Great Bear not been poked fully awake yet? Will it take a nuclear weapon aimed at the US? We have several contestants for the first buttwad to press the button. North Korea, Iraq, or a Taliban run Pakistan.

So my questions are, gentle readers, when is enough, enough? Do you see signs of unrest and people wanting to take back their country?

Techincal Issues with The British Bird blogg

I mean, granted, I have been a bit quiet of late but I found myself with time on my hands to day and went on my blog to put a post on and catch up on reading. I recieved an email from USA_ADMIRAL concerned that he could not post a comment to anything after my complaint about being stalked.

The stalking issue has been taken care of, but I couldnt for the life of me find out why my blog wasnt getting any comments.

So, the end result was me re-doing my blog.

Things are good, Becca is doing well, is almost finished with her jnr year, I have my youngest paying me a visit for two weeks, flying in next wed. Mr. Bird is doing well, is out with the USCG at the moment.
